Curriculum Cartography

The affordances of curriculum maps are many but because of their potential complexity and relative unfamiliarity they are often daunting to the uninitiated. This presentation will consider the underlying architectural issues, both in terms of construction and sustainability, for single curriculum maps and for cross-linked curriculum maps and competency frameworks. Drawing upon the author’s involvement in the development of the Scottish Doctor and MEDINE outcome frameworks as well as the development of in-school maps, this presentation is intended to stimulate and encourage both the weary and wary potential curriculum cartographers in us all.
