Delivering OpenCourseWare in Public HealthOpenCourseWare (OCW), originated by MIT in 2001 and adopted by increasing number of institutions worldwide, provides free Web-based access to primary and supporting content from didactic courses (lecture notes, slides, assignments, reading lists, etc.). Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (JHSPH) started its OCW program in 2004 and currently publishes 50 courses on its OCW Website. Most of the visitors (self-learners, educators and students) intend to learn subject matter to enhance personal knowledge, and public health practitioners and self-learners use OCW to keep current in the development of their professional fields. Using metadata standards, JHSPH OCW content is accessible from Websites of open educational resources and open learning organizations.
