Using XML and the Structured Content Development Model, based on a 100% XML Learning Content Management Platform, McMaster's Problem-based Learning (PBL) MD Program has built a flexible system for authoring learning objects that are SCORM 2004 compliant and capable of being published to various media (print, web, mobile devices), and for different audience types (eg tutors, students). In this presentation, we will provide an overview of the e-curriculum and e-learning implementation using XML, and touch on issues related to learning and content management, instructional design, reusability, digital certificates, and competency frameworks using XML.
