1. Virtual Conference Available on MELD
Videos of the MedBiquitous Annual Conference are now available on MELD, the community of practice for healthcare e-learning. Take a front row seat and watch leaders in healthcare education from the US and the UK explore educational technologies, the future of healthcare education, lessons learned, and great teaching. See: http://meld.medbiq.org/virtual_conference/index.htm
Many thanks to MedBiquitous member Local Origination for filming, producing, and hosting these multimedia presentations.
2. MedBiquitous Standards Committee Formed
MedBiquitous is pleased to announce the formation of its Standards Committee, the consensus body for all American National Standards developed by MedBiquitous. Participation is open to any party materially affected by the healthcare education and competence assessment standards developed by MedBiquitous. Those interested in participating are welcome to apply online.
The Standards Committee Roster is available.
3. SCORM for Healthcare Tool in Beta
The Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Initiative has implemented support for SCORM for Healthcare in a Beta version of RELOAD, an open source tool for metadata authoring and content packaging. Reload allows developers to author Healthcare Learning Object Metadata conformant with SCORM for Healthcare and package existing content files together as a SCORM package. The tool is available for download.
Many thanks to Jennifer Brooks, Deputy Director of the Alexandria ADL Co-lab, for making this tool available!
4. SCORM for Healthcare Workshop Materials Available
Presentation, templates, and links to important resources for creating reusable healthcare e-learning content are available on the MedBiquitous website.
These materials were prepared for a SCORM for Healthcare workshop delivered at the Slice of Life 2005 conference. Another SCORM for Healthcare workshop is being planned for the fall. Stay tuned for more details!
5. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to Launch Medical Review Board
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is looking for physicians to serve on the Agencyâs first Medical Review Board (MRB). This is an exciting opportunity to apply medical expertise to safety standards and advisory criteria for the more than six million truck drivers in the United States. FMCSA is committed to making U.S. highways safer by reducing large truck and bus-related fatalities and injuries. FMCSA is looking for expertise in many different medical specialties, an understanding of research methods, knowledge of transportation medical issues, experience on panels that develop medical standards, a record of collaboration and professional service, and experience developing teaching programs.
Axiom Resources, a MedBiquitous member, is working with the federal government and the MRB to produce its safety and training products. It is anticipated that many of the training resources developed will leverage MedBiquitous standards for healthcare education. For more information, contact contactmrb@fmcsa.dot.gov.
