1. Annual Conference - Mark Your Calendar
Consortium members, please join us for the MedBiquitous Annual Conference May 15 and 16, 2002 at The World Trade Center, Baltimore, Maryland. This promises to be an outstanding meeting for learning about the latest technologies and initiatives important to professional medical communities. May 15 is designed for society and industry executives and technology leaders and includes:
- An update on Consortium activities
- A demonstration of MedBiquitous Community Code
- Speakers covering relevant technology and business strategies for building and supporting online medical communities
- Informal networking with other society and industry leaders
May 16 will provide technical overviews for IT staff planning on using MedBiquitous XML and deploying MedBiquitous Community Code. Participation is open to members only. The conference starts at 10:00 on May 15 and ends at 14:30 on May 16. Check our website for more information on the event.
2. Code Development Update
Development of MedBiquitous Community Code Release 1 is nearing completion. The Consortium will receive code developed in India on March 11, after which the Consortium will begin acceptance testing. At the end of March, acceptance testing will be completed and the code will be available for members to download from the MedBiquitous Consortium website, http://www.medbiq.org/.
The first community software offering tailored to professional medicine, MedBiquitous Community Code Release 1 allows a group of professional medical societies to come together into a unified online community. A robust content management system brings order to the process of authoring, editing, and publishing web content. MedBiquitous XML surrounding the web content makes it easier for physicians to find relevant information on the community and society web sites. Societies can also register physician members, allowing them to collaborate with their peers through online committees, workgroups, and discussion forums. For more information on MedBiquitous Community Code, check the MedBiquitous Consortium website.
3. Share your success
Has your organization developed a technology that has markedly improved your online community? We're looking for Best of Breed technology solutions to showcase at our upcoming MedBiquitous Annual Conference. Members can nominate projects within their own organizations or other organizations. Nominations can include projects that improve physician education, professional collaboration, access to scientific information, compliance with guidelines, patient support, web site usability, business processes, and anything else that has had a high impact on your website. So if you know of a great success, share it with your colleagues on May 16 at the Annual Conference. Send nominated projects, contact name, and phone number to valerie.smothers@medbiq.org.
