Dear working group,

Please see the note below from Rhonda Willis, detailing the extensive profession list that the CDC uses for its TRAIN learning management system. In my mind, this reinforces the need to point to vocabularies defining which professions will be used. Every group we've looked at so far has a very different take on defining professions. That is appropriate given the differing scopes/target audience of their systems. We can encourage groups to set up or use existing vocabularies and encourage their use across the industry.

So perhaps instead of including a recommended vocabulary we can point to some existing vocabularies and recommend their use.

Please use reply all if you have any comments or suggestions. Thank you!

Subject: TRAIN Professional Role breakdown in Public Health

Hi Valerie,

Here is the professional role breakdown that currently exists in TRAIN, along with the work setting breakdown. As indicated, these can change or be updated according to states needs or the current trends in public health. A couple that will be added soon due to state requests are Medicaid Personnel and Human Services Personnel. I have been asked by the medical professionals that are reviewing the Dengue course that is coming out this summer that we request under physician, that General Practice, Critical Care Medicine, and Family Medicine be added. They also look at a broad spectrum under public health, from those who practice, to those who support, as well as emergency responders.
